The person you plan with is the person who shows up. I handle your conversations, music plan, timeline details and the wedding itself. That continuity matters because I already know the names, priorities and decisions behind the night before I ever pick up the microphone. Call or text (812) 431-8085.

One Person Accountable From Your First Call to Your Last Song

I'm Terry Tunks, and I've personally DJed weddings since 1992, handling every Tell City booking myself with no subcontractors. There's no roster at Spectrum Sound and no substitution clause — the person who answers your first call is the person running your sound and your microphone from your first dance to your last song. Perry County couples get the exact same commitment as a couple booking me in Evansville.

That kind of one-of-a-kind civic pride runs deep along the Ohio River here, and I bring the same attention to detail to every Tell City wedding I DJ — the same walk-through, the same backup system, the same 9–18 hours of prep I bring to a wedding twenty minutes from my own office.

01 — Who shows up. I am the only DJ Spectrum Sound sends. Not a team member, not a sub, not whoever's free that Saturday — the person on your first call is the person running your Tell City reception.
02 — 9–18 hours of preparation and performance. Timeline planning, music categories, must-play list, ceremony logistics, and a walk-through of your room — settled well before your Perry County wedding week.
03 — Zero cheese, every time. No forced line dances, no wigs, no DJ making himself the show. Tell City crowds are close-knit and multigenerational — I read the room and play to it.
04 — Send up to 40 must-plays. Your first dance, parent dances, entrance, and last dance are locked to the minute. The rest I place where they work — if a request would clear a packed floor at 10 p.m., it gets moved, not skipped.

The Reception Starts With Listening

My job before the wedding is to listen closely enough that my decisions during the wedding make sense. The better I understand your people, priorities and musical memories, the better I can respond when the room starts giving me new information.

Alongside the music, we map the formalities, introductions, special dances, family details and the amount of MC presence you want. I prepare around the photographer, caterer and venue team so the timeline can move without every small decision finding its way back to the couple.

I want the preparation to be thorough and the reception to feel spontaneous. That is the balance I want for your Tell City wedding: enough structure to protect the important moments, enough flexibility to respond to the people who actually show up.

Tell City & Perry County

Tell City Country Club is a verified Perry County room on my venue list — 50 miles from Evansville, a clubhouse banquet space I've walked in person. Whether your reception is there, at a downtown Tell City event space, an Ohio River-area venue, or one of the churches and halls scattered through the county, the production gets built around your specific room. Call and ask — I'll walk it before your date.

Verified Tell City Wedding Venues. Every room on my venue directory lists the city, county, distance from Evansville and the rental range, so you can compare before you call. See the Tell City, IN venues · all 142 verified venues.

The Room Keeps Giving Me Clues

Your must-plays give us anchors. Your do-not-play list gives us boundaries. Everything between them is where experience, timing and reading the room become important.

My music library gives me options; experience gives those options context. I can move across eras, genres and generations without treating the reception like a random shuffle because every change still has to make sense for your wedding.

I call the target the Baby Bear point: not too hot, not too cold, just right for the people who are actually in front of me. Not my definition of “just right” — yours, interpreted through what we planned together and what the room is telling me in real time.

Photo Booth — From $300, One Invoice

PicsPhotoBooth.com, my sister brand since 2010. Sets up easily at Tell City Country Club or any downtown event space. Self-serve is $300; printed strips start at $500. One contract, one invoice. Booked with the DJ, the booth is priced as part of the night rather than as a separate rental — we set that at the consultation.

Dancing on a Cloud — $300 Add-On

A low, rolling cloud of chilled fog fills the floor and stops at your ankles for the first dance. It stays on the floor rather than rising into the air, so your photos stay clean instead of washed out. Whether your reception is in the Tell City Country Club clubhouse or a Perry County hall, it clears in a few minutes with nothing left behind. Cleared with the venue coordinator at the walk-through. Same invoice as the DJ.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does preparation look like before my Tell City wedding?

We form a team before the wedding. Your song choices give me clues about what “good music” means to you, and we also work through the timeline, introductions, special dances, family considerations, do-not-plays, microphone style and venue details. I use that preparation as a framework, then stay flexible when the actual room gives us new information.

How do you decide what to play at a Tell City reception?

I start with the musical clues you give me, then read the room live — who is dancing, who is not, which generations are responding and whether the energy needs to build, breathe or change direction. My organized library of more than 250,000 songs gives me options; experience helps me choose the option that fits your people rather than somebody else’s wedding.

What venues near Tell City do you work?

Tell City Country Club is a verified room on my venue list, along with downtown Tell City event spaces, Ohio River-area venues, and the churches and halls scattered throughout Perry County. Every booking includes a walk-through in the weeks before your day.

Do you charge a travel fee for Tell City weddings?

Yes — Tell City is in my Zone 2 service area, which adds a flat $100 to any tier. It's shown as its own line on your quote before you sign, and it never changes between contract and invoice.

Will you personally DJ my Tell City wedding?

Yes. I've personally handled every event I've booked since 1987 with no subcontractors and no roster — that includes every wedding in Tell City and the rest of Perry County.

How much does a wedding DJ cost in Tell City, IN?

My six tiers run $1,550 to $3,500, plus the flat $100 Zone 2 travel fee — an all-in range of $1,650 to $3,600. Most Tell City couples land on the Ceremony/Cocktails/Reception tier at $2,100.
