West Frankfort's identity runs on coal — the town once hosted nine mines, and every May the Old King Coal Festival celebrates that heritage with a parade, a Coal Queen pageant, and a memorial service at Coal Miners Memorial Park honoring the 119 men lost in the 1951 Orient No. 2 mine explosion, one of the worst mining disasters in Illinois history. If your date lands festival weekend, downtown will be busy. Backyard parties and reunions here get the same setup as any closer booking. West Frankfort is Zone 4 — a flat $300 travel fee, shown as its own line. Central time, same as Evansville.

The Spectrum Sound Difference

Three things that set a Party DJ booking apart from a random Craigslist ad.

One person, every time. Every West Frankfort party gets Terry Tunks, not a rotating roster of subcontracted DJs. That means the person you talk to on the phone about your playlist, your timeline, and your do-not-play list is the same person running the mic and the mixer on the day — no last-minute swap, no handoff notes lost between two different people.

Gear built for real parties. The sound system, wireless mics, and lighting rig are the same professional-grade equipment Terry brings to weddings and corporate events, just right-sized for a backyard, a rec room, or a rented hall. A full backup system travels to every event, so a blown speaker or a dead battery never becomes your problem.

A plan built around your space. Before your date, Terry talks through your specific layout — where people will actually be standing, where the outlets are, whether the dance floor is inside or under a tent — so setup on the day is fast and the sound is dialed in for your room, not a generic template.

Party DJ FAQ — West Frankfort, IL

Who shows up to DJ my party in West Frankfort?

Terry Tunks, every time — no subcontractors, no rotating staff. The person you talk to on the phone is the person running your sound and mic on the day, and that's been true for 1,200-plus events with zero no-shows.

Is there a travel fee for West Frankfort?

Yes — West Frankfort is Zone 4, a flat $300 added to the package price and shown as its own line in your quote before you sign. It never gets blended into the package number.

Is there a deposit?

Yes. Once we've talked through your date, I hold it for 7 days with no payment. A 50% retainer, non-refundable, then locks it in the moment it clears. The balance is due on the first of the month before your event.

Do you take breaks?

The music never stops. I don't take a set break like a band would — if I step away for a minute to grab water or check on setup, a playlist covers it seamlessly and you won't hear a gap. Your guests should never notice I stepped away at all.

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can for spring-through-fall weekends, especially if your date falls near a local festival or a holiday weekend — those book up fastest. That said, plenty of Party DJ bookings come together on a few weeks' notice, so don't assume it's too late. Call and I'll tell you honestly whether your date's open rather than stringing you along.

Can I give you a do-not-play list?

Please do. Send your must-plays and your do-not-plays ahead of time, and I'll build the whole night around both instead of guessing. I take requests live too, but your list comes first — if a guest asks for something on your do-not-play list, it stays off no matter how many times they ask.

Do you coordinate with a caterer or the venue?

Yes. If there's a venue coordinator or a caterer involved, I'll touch base with them before the day so announcements, meal timing, and cake-cutting land at the right moments instead of colliding with the kitchen's schedule. A little coordination ahead of time means the whole event flows instead of everyone guessing at timing on the fly.

Is the quote the final price?

Yes. My quote is my invoice — the package price plus any travel line you've already seen in writing, and nothing gets added after the fact. If you add the photo booth or extra hours later, that's the only thing that changes the number, and you'll know the new total before I show up, not after.
