Washington is the Daviess County seat and the gateway to Southern Indiana's Amish Country — roughly 7,000 Old Order Amish live in the countryside just north of nearby Montgomery, descended from families who arrived from Canada in 1869. The 1927 Classical Revival courthouse, built of brick and Bedford limestone, anchors the downtown, and Eastside Park handles a lot of the town's reunions and graduation parties. Washington is Zone 2 — a flat $100 travel fee, shown as its own line. Daviess County runs on Eastern time, an hour ahead of Evansville — confirm start times in Eastern.

The Spectrum Sound Difference

Three things that set a Party DJ booking apart from a random Craigslist ad.

One person, every time. Every Washington party gets Terry Tunks, not a rotating roster of subcontracted DJs. That means the person you talk to on the phone about your playlist, your timeline, and your do-not-play list is the same person running the mic and the mixer on the day — no last-minute swap, no handoff notes lost between two different people.

Gear built for real parties. The sound system, wireless mics, and lighting rig are the same professional-grade equipment Terry brings to weddings and corporate events, just right-sized for a backyard, a rec room, or a rented hall. A full backup system travels to every event, so a blown speaker or a dead battery never becomes your problem.

A plan built around your space. Before your date, Terry talks through your specific layout — where people will actually be standing, where the outlets are, whether the dance floor is inside or under a tent — so setup on the day is fast and the sound is dialed in for your room, not a generic template.

Party DJ FAQ — Washington, IN

Who shows up to DJ my party in Washington?

Terry Tunks, every time — no subcontractors, no rotating staff. The person you talk to on the phone is the person running your sound and mic on the day, and that's been true for 1,200-plus events with zero no-shows.

Is there a travel fee for Washington?

Yes — Washington is Zone 2, a flat $100 added to the package price and shown as its own line in your quote before you sign. It never gets blended into the package number.

Is there a deposit?

Yes. Once we've talked through your date, I hold it for 7 days with no payment. A 50% retainer, non-refundable, then locks it in the moment it clears. The balance is due on the first of the month before your event.

Is the quote the final price?

Yes. My quote is my invoice — the package price plus any travel line you've already seen in writing, and nothing gets added after the fact. If you add the photo booth or extra hours later, that's the only thing that changes the number, and you'll know the new total before I show up, not after.

What happens if your equipment fails?

I bring a full backup system to every event, not just a spare cable — a second set of speakers, a backup wireless mic, and a spare laptop loaded with the same library. If something goes down mid-song, I swap it in and keep the music running; most guests never notice anything happened. In 20-plus years and 1,200-plus events, a full stop from equipment failure has never happened, and I plan to keep it that way.

What do you need for power?

One dedicated standard outlet is enough for most parties. For bigger lighting setups I'll want a second circuit so the lights don't share with the sound and risk tripping a breaker mid-song. If it's an outdoor party with no power nearby, tell me early and we'll plan for it — a generator or a longer run of cord is easy to arrange if I know ahead of time instead of finding out at load-in.

What if it rains?

For an outdoor party I need a covered spot for the gear — a tent, porch, carport, or garage all work fine. We'll talk through a rain plan when we go over your space, including a backup indoor spot if you have one, so nobody's scrambling to move speakers in a downpour on the day. The earlier we plan for it, the smoother the switch is if the forecast turns.

Do you play kids' parties?

Yes, and I keep them moving — games, requests, clean music, and enough energy to keep a room of kids engaged without wearing out the adults. Tell me the age range and I'll plan the music and the games around it; a 6-year-old's birthday and a 16-year-old's graduation party get very different playlists and very different levels of mic time.
