Terre Haute sits where US 40 and US 41 cross — the intersection the city has long called the Crossroads of America — on the east bank of the Wabash. Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman drive a lot of the town's rhythm, so graduation and homecoming weekends fill up fast. Deming Park and the riverfront handle the outdoor reunions; the older neighborhoods around ISU host the backyard parties. Terre Haute is Zone 6 — a flat $500 travel fee, shown as its own line, with an overnight stay generally part of the plan. Vigo County runs on Eastern time, an hour ahead of Evansville — confirm start times in Eastern.

The Spectrum Sound Difference

Three things that set a Party DJ booking apart from a random Craigslist ad.

One person, every time. Every Terre Haute party gets Terry Tunks, not a rotating roster of subcontracted DJs. That means the person you talk to on the phone about your playlist, your timeline, and your do-not-play list is the same person running the mic and the mixer on the day — no last-minute swap, no handoff notes lost between two different people.

Gear built for real parties. The sound system, wireless mics, and lighting rig are the same professional-grade equipment Terry brings to weddings and corporate events, just right-sized for a backyard, a rec room, or a rented hall. A full backup system travels to every event, so a blown speaker or a dead battery never becomes your problem.

A plan built around your space. Before your date, Terry talks through your specific layout — where people will actually be standing, where the outlets are, whether the dance floor is inside or under a tent — so setup on the day is fast and the sound is dialed in for your room, not a generic template.

Party DJ FAQ — Terre Haute, IN

Who shows up to DJ my party in Terre Haute?

Terry Tunks, every time — no subcontractors, no rotating staff. The person you talk to on the phone is the person running your sound and mic on the day, and that's been true for 1,200-plus events with zero no-shows.

Is there a travel fee for Terre Haute?

Yes — Terre Haute is Zone 6, a flat $500 added to the package price and shown as its own line in your quote before you sign. It never gets blended into the package number.

Is there a deposit?

Yes. Once we've talked through your date, I hold it for 7 days with no payment. A 50% retainer, non-refundable, then locks it in the moment it clears. The balance is due on the first of the month before your event.

Do you ever need to stay overnight?

For most bookings this far out, it depends on the schedule. If load-in, teardown, or a late end time makes the drive home unsafe, lodging is billed separately at $200 per room per night and disclosed in your quote before you sign — never a surprise afterward.

Do you coordinate with a caterer or the venue?

Yes. If there's a venue coordinator or a caterer involved, I'll touch base with them before the day so announcements, meal timing, and cake-cutting land at the right moments instead of colliding with the kitchen's schedule. A little coordination ahead of time means the whole event flows instead of everyone guessing at timing on the fly.

Is the quote the final price?

Yes. My quote is my invoice — the package price plus any travel line you've already seen in writing, and nothing gets added after the fact. If you add the photo booth or extra hours later, that's the only thing that changes the number, and you'll know the new total before I show up, not after.

What happens if your equipment fails?

I bring a full backup system to every event, not just a spare cable — a second set of speakers, a backup wireless mic, and a spare laptop loaded with the same library. If something goes down mid-song, I swap it in and keep the music running; most guests never notice anything happened. In 20-plus years and 1,200-plus events, a full stop from equipment failure has never happened, and I plan to keep it that way.

What do you need for power?

One dedicated standard outlet is enough for most parties. For bigger lighting setups I'll want a second circuit so the lights don't share with the sound and risk tripping a breaker mid-song. If it's an outdoor party with no power nearby, tell me early and we'll plan for it — a generator or a longer run of cord is easy to arrange if I know ahead of time instead of finding out at load-in.
